Meridian Black
2022Lürssen
Our founding programme. We specify the vessel and the collection together, from the same brief, with the conservation engineering written into the refit drawings rather than argued about afterwards.

Most owners buy the boat, finish the interior, and then go shopping for art. By then the lighting track is installed in the wrong place, the bulkhead has no backing structure, and the only wall of any size faces west.
Each stage ends in a written deliverable you sign off before the next one starts. Nothing is ordered on a verbal.

Published in full because we would rather clients hold us to it. This specification has been in force since 2014.
Cabin relative humidity held between 45 and 55 per cent, logged continuously and reported to you quarterly.
Maximum 150 lux on paint surfaces, UV-filtered glazing and blackout on any wall receiving direct sun.
Anti-vibration cleats rated for the vessel's own hull frequency, measured at cruising revs — not a generic mount.
Backing boards, edge tape and inert barrier layers so salt aerosol never reaches the canvas from behind.
Published with the owners' permission. The reasoning matters more than the result — each choice was driven by the survey.

Lürssen, 106 m
Ines Duarte, textured relief, 220 × 110 cm
A 220-centimetre relief hung on the main-deck bulkhead, lit from a recessed track at 140 lux. The relief's depth reads differently at anchor and under way — the reason we chose it over a flat canvas.

Monte Carlo Yachts, 43 m
Elise Nordahl, textured relief, 140 × 140 cm
A smaller vessel with a bright interior needed a work that would not compete with the sea. Unpigmented plaster relief, no glazing, and nothing to fade.

Damen Yachting, 77 m explorer
Thomas Aird, oil on canvas, 130 × 90 cm
An expedition hull crossing high latitudes: the collection travels in a climate-controlled locker and is hung only when the vessel is stationary for more than a week.

“They told me the wall I wanted to use was the worst wall on the boat, and then spent two months making it the best one. That is not what an art dealer normally does.”

Still unresolved? Our specialists answer directly — usually within a working day.
No. Around half of Yacht & Canvas programmes run on vessels the owner already has, or bought elsewhere. The survey and engineering work is identical; only the brokerage element drops out.
The engineering and curation fee is 2.5 per cent of the collection value, minimum €45,000, and it covers the survey, drawings, installation and the first ten years of annual inspection. Artwork and yacht are invoiced separately at their own prices.
We prefer to. Our hanging survey is issued as a drawing set your designer and yard can build to, and we sit in the fit-out meetings so the lighting and the joinery agree with each other.
Call the number in the dossier. Insurance is placed on a single schedule covering hull-located works, and our conservator will attend the vessel — anywhere — to assess before anything is moved.

The first conversation costs nothing and usually takes an hour. If the programme is wrong for you, we will say so and point you at what is right.
One letter a month: fresh central listings, artist releases, and the private viewings we do not advertise. No forwarding, no third parties.
